Description
As lectors, we read the Word of God during masses and other liturgical ceremonies.
Usually, we read the sacred scripture taken from both the Old and New Testaments. Occasionally, if there is no psalmist or cantor, we read the psalm between the readings. Another privilege of this ministry is our opportunity to present the Prayers of the Faithful on behalf of our community.
While most of us are not scripture scholars, we do meditate on the texts we will read. Doing so opens the interplay between Old and New Testaments and allows us to appreciate their richness. What a wonderful privilege it is to be able to proclaim The Word of the Lord – we deeply appreciate this opportunity.
