"For where your treasure it, there your heart will be also."
So says Jesus in our gospel. Which gets me thinking, dear reader. What are my treasures in life? Let me name some of them: My family, our Catholic faith, my priesthood, my friends, my very being that God has blessed me with, my fascination with people, my curiousity, my love of travel and golf and other sports and even going to the gym. And the list goes on and on.
Now I have to ask? Are these treasures good or bad? I dare say they are good - but some of them can stray into the "bad zone" when I become obsessed by them or place too much time or emphasis on them. And when that happens, they can become like little gods. And now I am going into a bad area.
I urge you, dear reader, to consider what your treasures are in your life. What role do they play in your life? And are they helping you or hurting you?
