today's readings are Ezekiel 34: 11-16; Psalm 23: Romans 5: 5-11; Lk. 15: 3-7
As a boy I was fascinated by various images and statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the image of Jesus' heart encircled by the crown of thorns.
The devotion to the Sacred Heart developed under the leadership of 17th century French nun,, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. It is traditionally celebrated 19 days after Pentecost, and recently it has also become the World Day of Prayer for Priests.
There is much information about the Sacred Heart on the internet. I ask you dear reader to take the time to go to
Archdiocese of Toronto - St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and the Sacred Heart of Jesus (archtoronto.org)
In it you will find more information as well as the link to the pastoral letter of Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, on the Sacred Heart.
