today's readings are Sirach 44; Psalm 132 and Mt. 13: 16-17
Our first reading is a story that brings a smile to my face, especially as we celebrate the feast of Jesus' maternal grandparents, with a special emphasis on his grandmother, St. Anne.
In the first reading we hear the following: Let us know sing the praises of our ancestors in their generations. Some of them have left behind a name, so that others declare their praise. These were godly people, who righteous deeds have not been forgotten ...
Today as we honour Anne and Joachim, I ask for God's blessings upon all of you who are grandparents. May your kindness and faith that you share with your grandchildren stay forever in their hearts and memories. And dear grandparents, may God bless you!
