today's other readings are Jeremiah 15 and Psalm 59
Last Sunday, Jesus told us in our gospel from Luke 11, that in relation to prayer one needs to "Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you".
Part of prayer is the willingness also to act. This is reflected in Jesus' 2 short parables for today - the buried treasure and the pearl of great value being images of the Kingdom of Heaven. But to get that buried treasure requires us to dig. How much digging do we do in our faith - dig for answers, dig for opportunities to grow in our faith, dig for opportunities to live out our faith? And for the pearl, one has to sell all one owns to buy it. In other words "to go all in" when it comes to our faith.
If we do those 2 things, we will be well on our way to building the Kingdom of Heaven on earth and find ourselves in the Kingdom after we die.
