today's other readings are Hebrews 2: 14-18 and Psalm 105
Mark's illustration of one day in the life of Jesus continues in our passage, and how He is busy. After curing Simon's mother-in-law, we hear of how the whole city gathers around the door, bringing their sick and possessed to be healed. After a short sleep, Jesus quietly gets up and finds an isolated place to pray. Simon and his companions track him down, and now it's time to move to another town.
Naturally, in the gospels, there is much focus on the events of what we call Holy Week, and rightly so. But we need to remember that for 3 years Jesus' routine consisted of doing things like what Mark illustrates as one day in the life of Jesus - teaching, healing, resting, and praying.
In our daily routines, with the work and tasks that need to be done, are we ensuring that we too get time for rest and prayer?
